Gitanas Nausėda: We remember that Moldova is the first country to recognize Lithuania's independence
The Republic of Moldova and its citizens have a special place in the heart of Lithuania, said Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda in his message on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of our country's independence. "We remember that the Republic of Moldova was the first country to recognize Lithuania's independence," the Vilnius leader said.
The President of Lithuania states in his message that "30 years ago the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova opened new roads" for the country.
"This election continues to have a strong impact even today, when the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are free to vote for a democratic and independent future," the message reads.
The Vilnius leader assures that Lithuania believes in the success of the Republic of Moldova and is ready to support it on its path to the European Union.
"We will continue to offer you our support in carrying out the necessary reforms, promoted by President Maia Sandu and the Government of the Republic of Moldova," said Gitanas Nausėda.
"I wish the citizens of the Republic of Moldova much success, peace and prosperity. Happy Independence Day!,” is mentioned at the end of the congratulatory message signed by the President of Lithuania.
