Maia Sandu, invested in the position of President of the Republic of Moldova (LIVE TEXT)

Maia Sandu is sworn in today, December 24, as President of the Republic of Moldova. In this sense, a solemn ceremony takes place at the Palace of the Republic. Here, Maia Sandu will take the constitutional oath. At 12:00, the new head of state will lay flowers at the monument of Stephen the Great and Saint in the center of the capital. Subsequently, starting at 12:15, at the Presidency, a military-protocol ceremony will take place between the former and the current president of the country. The term of office of the President shall be four years and shall run from the date of taking the oath.

UPDATE 11:17: Maia Sandu: “Dear citizens, dear Moldovans, dear friends, I come before you today with respect, responsibility and trust to embark on a new path together. The victory in these elections is not mine, it is your victory, dear citizens, because never in a country with the problems of Moldova would a man like me have become president without your involvement, your enthusiasm”.

UPDATE: 11:14: Ms. Manole: "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the Republic of Moldova has taken office today."

UPDATE: 11:12. Maia Sandu takes the oath. "I swear to give all my strength and skill to the prosperity of the Republic of Moldova. To defend democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms, the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova”.

The national anthem is sung.

UPDATE 11:06: Domnica Manole, President of the Constitutional Court, Zinaida Greceanii, President of the Parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps, former country presidents, deputies of the Parliament participate in the official investiture ceremony of the President of the Republic of Moldova.

UPDATE 11:02: Maia Sandu is greeted by dozens of citizens, gathered in front of the Palace of the Republic. The crowd chants: "Victory", "Maia Sandu president", "Bravo!".
