Maia Sandu will visit Paris. The head of state would meet with the French president, Emmanuel Macron

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, will pay a working visit to Paris between November 20-22. The head of state will have a meeting with the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, the press service of the Presidency told Radio Moldova.

Also then, the third meeting of the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova, an initiative of Germany, France and Romania, will take place.

The event is organised in the context of the energy crisis facing the Republic of Moldova.

The first Support Conference for the Republic of Moldova took place on April 5, in Berlin, and was co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Bogdan Aurescu, together with his counterparts from Germany and France. The event marked the launch of the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova and generated important political, financial and technical support, for the direct benefit of the Republic of Moldova.

The Berlin conference generated financial commitments worth 659.5 million euros in loans, budget support and financial assistance, commitments to relocate 12,000 Ukrainian refugees from the Republic of Moldova to other states, as well as humanitarian aid worth 71.3 million euros. In this framework, Romania announced a direct budget support of 10 million euros, in addition to the support packages granted previously, writes rfi.ro.

The second meeting of the Support Platform for the Republic of Moldova took place in mid-July, in Bucharest. Present at the event, the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, announced that her country will offer the Republic of Moldova a grant worth 77 million euros for development and cooperation with the Republic of Moldova. For his part, the Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, mentioned that it is the opportune moment for external partners and donors to act in support of the Republic of Moldova, without wasting a single moment.

President Maia Sandu thanked for the help, noting that Moldova needs the support of its partners to strengthen the energy independence of the country, especially in the cold season.
