The "Sor" party, reaction to the announcement of the Minister of Justice regarding the outlawing of the political formation

The "ŞOR" party qualifies the statement of the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, regarding the intention to outlaw the political formation as "a serious abuse". According to a statement issued, the "ŞOR" Party declares that banning the formation would mean "damaging the rights" of the voters who cast their vote for the "ŞOR" Party, as well as an "attack on the pluralism of opinion".

"Our formation was founded on the basis of the right to free association, a sacred value of democracy, enshrined in the Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights. (...) On the other hand, the "ŞOR" Party has demonstrated, over time, that it is one of the few, if not the only party, that has consistently defended the constitutional principles", the quoted statement states.

In the statement issued, the political formation rejects the accusations of the law authorities regarding the illegal financing of the "Sor" Party as "unfounded" and "lacking any legal basis, based on political statements".

It should be mentioned that the Ministry of Justice has prepared a referral to the Constitutional Court through which it will request the declaration of the unconstitutionality of the "Sor" Party. The notification will be sent to the Government and could be approved at the meeting on Wednesday, November 9. The announcement was made by the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, on his Facebook page.
