The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, greeted in Chisinau with military honors
High-ranking visit to the Republic of Moldova. The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, arrived in Chisinau this morning. Klaus Iohannis was greeted at the Presidency by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, during a ceremony with military honors, at which the Romanian anthem "Wake up, Romanians" and the anthem of the Republic of Moldova - "Our Language" were sung.
The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, was greeted at the Presidency in a military-protocol ceremony, attended by the representatives of the President's Office and the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ioniţă.
At the same time, several people, with flags in their hands, participated in a peaceful manifesto in front of the Presidency, on the arrival of the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis. "Long live Moldova, Transylvania and the Romanian country" - the crowd chanted.
TRM.MD recalls that the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, is coming to Chisinau today, at the invitation of President Maia Sandu. According to the Presidency in Bucharest, the visit will address concrete issues related to Romania's support for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, including in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, and for supporting the economic and social development of the Republic of Moldova.
The two presidents are to adopt a joint declaration aimed at strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership, reaffirming the special relationship between Bucharest and Chisinau on the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Strategic Partnership for European Integration of the Republic of Moldova in 2020, as well as the Republic of Moldova's commitment to follow the European path and to implement the necessary democratic reforms in this regard.
At 13:05, Maia Sandu and Klaus Iohannis will come with joint press statements, during a conference.
Klaus Iohannis last visited Chisinau in February 2015, at the beginning of his first term, during Nicolae Timofti's presidency.
