Six MPs leave parliamentary faction of Democratic Party

Six MPs of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) leave the party and the faction of democrats in the Parliament. This was announced by the MP Andrian Candu, who along with the other five colleagues came out today, February 19, in a press conference. The decision to leave the PDM arose from disagreements within the faction. Andrian Candu accused the PDM leadership of collaborating with the PSRM and announced that the six MPs will create a parliamentary group.

Six MPs announced that they are leaving the party. These are Eleonora Graur, Grigore Repesciuc, Sergiu Sîrbu, Vladimir Cebotari and Corneliu Padnevici.

"The evolutions inside disappoint the people who voted for the PDM. PDM has done many good projects, and made some mistakes. We want to be part of an entity with a clear identity. Is the PDM in opposition or at power? None of these”, said Andrian Candu.

Andrian Candu accused the party's leadership of playing games with the Socialists, noting that the MPs of PDM are intimidated to form a coalition with the PSRM.

"The current leadership prefers to create a coalition platform of government with the socialists without giving any chance of identifying other alliances. They meet in secret with Chicu and Dodon, they take pictures, they hug, and the next morning they send statements that they do not make an alliance. Dear colleagues of PDM, the game you play, in the interest of which you act? Who do you represent now, those who voted for you or your personal interests prevail? ”, said Andrian Candu.

Andrian Candu said that they will announce about the creation of the parliamentary group in the Parliament sitting on February 20 and that this group will fully support the Declaration of the Block ACUM of European Integration of the Republic of Moldova.

Asked by journalists to comment on Andrian Candu's statements, referring to the pressures, the MP of PSRM, Vasile Bolea, said that "any person who considers that he is blackmailed, has the right to address the competent bodies".

"I am not part of the PDM and I do not comment on what the people are talking about," said Vasile Bolea.

In a Facebook post, chairman of PDM Pavel Filip said he took note of the group's decision to leave the party, but according to him, this decision was predictable.

"It is more than differences of views between the party and this group and I think their decision is the best, which will help both the PDM and this group to evolve further, including through possible future collaboration on projects of common interest. I am in Bucharest now, where I have several official meetings, in the evening I will return to Chisinau, the leadership of the party will meet and we will present our official position”, said Pavel Filip.

Last week, the PDM appointed new vice presidents. Andrian Candu and Sergiu Sîrbu are not among the vice-presidents. The Democrats claimed that the party's reform strategy was presented at the National Political Council.
