The village of Scoreni will have the largest barrel in the world

The village of Scoreni, Straseni district, at the end of August, could enter the record book. This is after the construction of the largest barrel in the world, which is the size of a house, will be completed. The barrel, eight meters in diameter and ten meters long, will be made of metal and wood and will house a multifunctional cultural center. Nearby, a stage, gazebos and a pavement are being built, all in order for the barrel to become a new tourist attraction on the map of the Republic of Moldova, reports Moldova 1.

The barrel is eight meters high and has two floors. On the first level there will be an exhibition hall with wines, and on the second level there will be the village museum, where old objects collected by the local people will be exhibited.

A few years ago, in the village of Scoreni, every third inhabitant made barrels. Ion Bîtcă remained among the few who still practice this profession.

The locals hope that the new construction will become a tourist attraction.

"I have been gone for 15 years, I came back the other day. I see a barrel being built, very beautiful I think it will be. We also want there to be something new, something beautiful in the village of Scoreni, for the people to return from abroad”.

In parallel with the construction of the large barrel, on the adjacent territory, a rest area will be arranged. According to local authorities, various events are to take place here.

The value of the project is three million lei. Part of the money was provided by UNDP Moldova, through the "Migration and Local Development" Program.
