December 1, Romania's National Day

Today, December 1, Romanians everywhere celebrate National Day and commemorate the Great Union of 1918. The historic moment marks the unification of the country by joining Transylvania, and the annual festivities remind people of the formation of Greater Romania, which brought together the people united in spirit, language and values.

In the Republic of Moldova, the events dedicated to the National Day of Romania will be marked online, mentioned the Romanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ioniţă, during the show "European Vector" on Moldova 1.

"This year is a special one for Romania and the Republic of Moldova, as well as for the whole of humanity. We are facing a ruthless virus. We have to adapt to that situation and we have to honor our traditions. We will not be hosting any receptions this year. All the events we had in mind on this occasion were transferred online. However, in Bucharest, there will be a military parade with the participation of only military technique and a small number of people," said Daniel Ioniţă.

Romania was the first state to recognize the independence of the Republic of Moldova. It supported our country in the most difficult situations and shared the joys with us. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Joint Declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Romania for the European integration of our country. According to Daniel Ioniţă, the Partnership was designed to help the Republic of Moldova advance on its European path, thus providing opportunities for the implementation of a series of projects for the benefit of the community.

"This partnership has left its mark on absolutely all areas - education, health, trade. We still want to continue on this path. Romania has been, is and will be a sincere partner of the Republic of Moldova, which really wants it to advance on its European path, a path also validated by the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who in the recent presidential elections made a choice in this regard of consolidation the European course of the Republic of Moldova," Daniel Ioniţă also declared.

In this context, the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ioniţă, confirmed that, after the inauguration of the President-elect of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, will pay an official visit to the Republic of Moldova.

December 1, 1918 represents the main event in the history of Romania, when the Great Assembly from Alba-Iulia votes the union of Transylvania with Romania, at the same time creating a single national state. On this occasion, His Excellency, the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ioniţă, sent a congratulatory message to all Romanians.

"Happy Birthday Romanians! Happy Birthday Romanians! Happy birthday to all those who feel and think in Romanian, no matter where they are," was the wish of Ambassador Daniel Ioniţă.
