Prosecutor’s Office of ATU Gagauzia has new acting chief prosecutor

A new acting chief prosecutor was named at the Prosecutor’s Office of ATU Gagauzia. This is Vasile Stoinov, who took up his duties on November 2. An order to this effect was signed by acting Prosecutor General Dumitru Robu on November 1, IPN reports.

Contacted by the agency, the prosecutor Mariana Cherpec, responsible for the communication of the General Prosecutor's Office with the media representatives, stated that, according to the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, the interim order is to be approved or rejected at the first meeting of the Superior Council of Prosecutors.

"The reason is determined by the need to ensure the functionality of this structural subdivision, taking into account the fact that the position is vacant. The interim will be provided until the appointment of a chief prosecutor on the basis of a competition ", said Mariana Cherpec.

Until now, the interim position of chief prosecutor of the ATU Gagauzia Prosecutor's Office has been exercised by prosecutor Victor Cîlcic. He was appointed to the post in June 2020 by order of General Prosecutor Alexandr Stoianoglo, who is currently suspended.
