Anatolie Nosatîi: Chisinau authorities did not receive an official explanation regarding the Russian missiles
The authorities in Chisinau have not received an official explanation regarding the Russian missiles that flew over the airspace a week ago, as the representatives of the Russian side do not recognize a violation in this regard, said the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatâi, in the program "La 360 de grade" from Radio Moldova.
He said that the Republic of Moldova does not currently have air defense systems and long-term investments and acquisitions are necessary.
"It is a discussion at the diplomatic level that is usually used by the officials of different countries to avoid admitting some of their violations. When we talk about means of observation, monitoring, and that's radars, these means for now are what we were able to detect and confirm their target. In order to intercept an aerial target, another missile or a fighter plane is needed which would respectively shoot down this target. Against cruise missiles, we do not have the necessary means to intercept these targets", said Anatolie Nosatâi.
We mention that today in a press conference, the head of state, Maia Sandu declared that, in the event that the Russian Federation threatens the sovereignty and integrity of our country, protective measures will be implemented.
We remind you that in the morning of October 10, three Russian missiles flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. This action was condemned by the authorities in Chisinau and officials from the EU states.
