Almost 10 thousand people participated in a marathon in the center of Chisinau
Almost 10 thousand people participated in the biggest and most spectacular running sports competition in the Republic of Moldova. Each person, who signed up for the race, had the opportunity to choose the route they wanted to cover, running 5 km, 10, 21 or 42 km. This year, the event took place under the title Marathon of Big Hearts from Chisinau, as it had a new mission: to collect financial means for charitable purposes, reports Moldova 1 TV.
The first to enter the race were the participants in wheelchairs.
"Positive emotions and always moving forward, always moving".
"Those in wheelchairs show those who are healthy to appreciate more their health. We're still healthy, but we can't walk and we're proving that you can move in a wheelchair and lead a normal life."
The participants claim that through this event they promote a healthy lifestyle and set an example for children. They competed from distances of 5 km to distances of 42 km.
"I came with my son to this competition to run the 5 km race. It's the first time and we are very excited, satisfied that we participated".
"I think that the best way to educate children is by example, and I'm trying to somehow establish a habit so that the day comes and my kids run too."
"We are very happy to be here today. Yesterday we celebrated 11 years of marriage and we celebrated at this marathon".
According to the organizers, part of the money collected at the event will be redirected to refugees from the Republic of Moldova.
"This year a sum of the money will be donated to the needy in Ukraine. We have a political context, which was formed this year, and it is important to support our neighbors because we are a small country but with a big heart", said Vladimir Cabîş.
The Chisinau International Marathon is in its eighth edition and took place this weekend in Chisinau.
