National Hotel building could be demolished. Adjacent territory was fenced off

The building of the National Hotel, which has been the business card of Chisinau for decades, and is now in ruins, could be demolished. A decision in this regard was issued last year by the City Hall of Chisinau, and this morning, the institution was fenced with a ribbon, which prohibits access to the territory, reports Moldova 1 TV.

Chisinau City Hall has issued a document stating that the decision to demolish the National Hotel is being revoked on the grounds that several illegalities have been detected. The demolition permit for this building was issued in June 2021, but it has expired.

"Today the economic agent, who manages and owns the building of the National Hotel, fenced the adjacent territory. A request has been submitted to the prosecutor's office and we have been notified that it intends to enclose the adjacent territory without any further details. We, as the Local Public Authority, were not informed about the extension of the authorization to demolish this building ”.

With regard to claiming ownership of the building, the Public Property Agency should take act of it. The National Hotel is run by a tour operator. It was privatized in 2007, when the owners intended to build a new luxury hotel.
