Water crisis in the Republic of Moldova: the Ministry of the Environment recommends stopping water for six hours a day
Water from the taps could disappear from all consumers for several hours a day. The Ministry of the Environment recommended that the operators providing the water supply service review the water delivery graphs and, if necessary, introduce hourly delivery. The supply will be interrupted between 09:00 - 12:00 and 18:00 - 21:00 to restore the water reserve, in drought conditions.
It is also recommended to adjust the pressure in the pipelines to the minimum optimal transportation level, ensuring deliveries to consumers.
At the same time, the Ministry of the Environment recommends that people, during this period of severe drought, avoid washing cars, sidewalks and filling swimming pools. The ministry recommends farmers to irrigate at night, when less water evaporates. These proposals come in the context of the severe drought that the Republic of Moldova is facing.
In the list of recommendations, there is no action to be taken by the Ministry of Environment or the Government.
