Switching to summer time can affect your health, experts warn
On the night of March 27-28, the Republic of Moldova switched to daylight saving time. The transition to daylight saving time aims to make the most of sunlight. At the same time, several specialists in medicine and psychology claim that the change to summer time can influence the health and mental state of many people, especially those suffering from chronic diseases, reports Moldova 1.
While some of the people I talked to say that they adapt easily to the change of time, others are upset and say that for a few days, their body suffers.
According to psychologists, changing the time can create a state of nervousness, but the body will quickly adapt to it.
"Decreasing sleep by an hour predisposes us, in addition to fatigue, to a state of irritability, nervousness and stress. The risk of accidents is increased in the next period, so we need to be more careful. But the good part is that both our psyche and our physique will adapt easily. The adaptation period lasts about two to three weeks. The doctors come with some advice in this regard and recommend us to wake up 10-15 minutes earlier, they can also help us to practice sports, outdoor walks and contact with nature," mentions the psychologist Mihaela Roşca.
In March 2019, MEPs voted to give up changing the time in the EU from 2021. Thus, each member state of the bloc will be able to choose whether to stay at the "summer" or "winter" permanent hours.
