Government authorities expect challenges on May 9, speculating on banning St. George ribbon

Government officials expect challenges on May 9, says Action and Solidarity Party MP Dan Perciun in a Jurnal TV show. The statements come after the Socialist deputies previously said that they will not comply with the new provisions of the Law prohibiting the use on the territory of the Republic of Moldova of symbols that propagate the war, including the "Saint George" ribbon, Radio Moldova reports.

"I will not break any law, I will go out and celebrate May 9, as I have traditionally celebrated, without any change: with a ribbon and a portrait of my grandfather who fought in this fierce war, in fact with many predecessors and the grandparents who voted for this law ", Grigore Novac reported.

In his turn, the PAS deputy, Dan Perciun, underlined that on May 9 there could be challenges to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova, by speculating on the banning of the Saint George ribbon.

"A sensitive period awaits us, May 9th will be a complicated day, because there will be a lot of speculation about that ban on the ribbon. The forces will try to mobilize around this common idea and destabilize the situation. It is important that all state institutions send very clear messages that these things will not be tolerated and at the same time it is important a constructive dialogue with the representatives of the ethnic minorities who are reasonable ", said Dan Perciun.

The PAS deputy added that he has high expectations from the secret services of the Republic of Moldova, which must stop the financial flows coming from the Russian Federation for the financing of certain political parties and socio-political movements that destabilize the situation on the territory of the country.

We remind you that according to the new law, the forbidden symbols - the letters "V" and "Z" and the ribbon "Saint George" can be presented only in scientific conferences, documentaries or exhibitions, respectively in the news journals. The Saint George ribbon that is part of a medal will not be considered a contravention.

Individuals and legal entities that will not take into account this law will be fined from 4,500 lei to 18,000 thousand lei or unpaid work for the benefit of the community from 30 to 60 hours.
