Two Soroca officials sent to court after they tried to bribe a judge

The head of the Soroca Archive Service and the social employee from DASPF Soroca, criminally investigated in a case started for influence peddling, were sent to court.

According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, the two women reported that they would have influence over a magistrate from the Soroca Court, stating that they could determine him to adopt a milder sentence regarding a resident of Soroca, accused of illegal drug trafficking. They demanded and received 11,050 euros from the young man's relatives.

The deed of the defendants was qualified as trafficking in influence committed by two persons, in large proportions, a crime provided by the Criminal Code. According to the information, the suspects did not admit their guilt and are currently pleading not guilty.

They risk a fine of 150,000 to 200,000 lei or imprisonment for 2 to 7 years.
