EU and WHO donnate non-invasive ventilation equipment for Moldovan hospitals
Hospitals in Moldova will be equipped with one hundred non-invasive ventilation equipment, BiPAPs, respirators indispensable in the treatment of respiratory failure and diseases. The equipment was procured and donated thanks to the financial support of the European Union (EU) and the technical assistance of the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the Ministry of Health, the value of the equipment is estimated at 444 thousand euros and comes to strengthen the national capacities to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
BiPAPs are non-invasive ventilation devices that provide oxygen to patients through a face mask and therefore eliminate the need for endotracheal airway (intubation). BiPAPs help reduce respiration activity and improve gas exchange. The device is used to treat patients with chronic respiratory illness and those with COVID-19.
According to the quoted source, the BIPAPs will be distributed in the hospitals in the country based on the list of the Ministry of Health.
