Exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe, inaugurated at the National Library

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe activity, an exhibition was inaugurated in the hall of the National Library. Visitors can see documents, publications, and factsheets that present the history, achievements, and future properties of the council on human rights, democracy, justice, children, education and medicine. The exhibition "Exploring the 70 Years of the Council of Europe", organized by the National Library of Moldova, together with the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, will be open until the end of May.

"The information center that was established at the National Library in 1997 and later in 2011 was created a pro-European service center through which the values of the European Union are better promoted. At the same time, these structures facilitate the European integration of the Republic of Moldova," said William Massolin, the head of the Council of Europe in Chisinau.

"This exhibition allows us to follow the steps taken by the Council of Europe in recent years to make progress in Moldova in the field of human rights, democracy and the rule of law," said Pascal le Deunff, Ambassador of France to Moldova.

"The Council of Europe has been and continues to be a reliable partner for us, as the Republic of Moldova is an organization that has substantially contributed to the consolidation of the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova," said State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tatiana Molcean.

"Part of the exhibition is the national patrimony of the National Library that has been gathered over the years. The second part is information panels, for the first time exposed in the National Library," said Elena Pintilei, director of the National Library.

"It is important to promote democracy in our country. We, as young people, have to learn what human rights mean, learn what the EU means," said Oleg Chiseliov, a visitor to the library.

The Council of Europe is the largest organization promoting human rights and includes 47 Member States. The Republic of Moldova joined the Council on 13 July 1995.
