The four-dose immunization against COVID-19 to start in the Republic of Moldova
The National Committee for the Coordination of Immunization recommended to the Ministry of Health to start vaccinating Moldovans with the fourth dose. It happens after last week several European health agencies announced that immunization with booster two is needed due to the new wave of infections, Radio Moldova reports.
Contacted by Radio Moldova to find out if the health authorities will follow the recommendation of the National Committee for Immunization Coordination, the head of the information and communication service with the media at the Ministry of Health, Elena Mudrîi told us that the Ministry will come later with a position on this subject.
We remind you that vaccination with booster dose two is recommended for people over 60, but also for those who have a compromised immunity in the context in which a new variant of Omicron is much more contagious, and according to specialists the immunity acquired after vaccination with only three doses is less effective than the new strain.
Currently, more than one million Moldovans have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine, of which only 30 percent have received their booster.
