Petru Merineanu, the former head of state's brother-in-law, was released from house arrest

Petru Merineanu, the brother-in-law and accomplice of the ex-president of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon on the charge of illicit enrichment, was released from house arrest and was placed under judicial control for a period of 30 days. A decision in this regard was taken today by the magistrates of the Chisinau Court, based in Ciocana, informs the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office.

Following the examination, the magistrates ordered the replacement of the preventive measure in the form of house arrest with the provisional release under judicial control, for a period of 30 days regarding the defendant.

The prosecutors are going to challenge the court decision at the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
