Moldovan president sends condolences in connection with the railway accident in Ankara

President Igor Dodon sent condolences to Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in connection with the railway accident that happened in Ankara which resulted in numerous loss of lives and injured people.

"I sent a message of condolences to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in connection with  the tragic railway accident that happened in Ankara, which resulted in numerous loss of lives and injured people. On the behalf of myself and of the Moldovan people, we want to convey our full sympathy and support to the Turkish nation and to the grieving families – sincere condolences. My thoughts also go to those injured, whom I wish a soon recovery", the head of state wrote on his social page.

We remind that a high-speed train hit a railway engine and crashed into a pedestrian overpass at a station in the Turkish capital Ankara on Thursday, killing nine people and injuring 47 others, including three in critical condition.  The train was en route from Ankara to the central Turkish city of Konya. The accident took place at 6:36 a.m. (0336 GMT) as the train left the central station in Ankara and collided head-on with the locomotive, which was returning from checking tracks.  Embassy of Moldova in Turkey said that Moldovan citizens are not among the victims of the railway accident in Turkey.
