6 suicide and 15 attempted suicide cases, registered last year in Moldova
Six cases of suicide and 15 cases of attempted suicide were recorded last year in prisons in Moldova. The data was presented in the report of the National Administration of Penitentiaries, reports Mesager.
In all, last year, the National Administration of Penitentiaries received over 3400 petitions. Over 80% of these were sent by detainees and others- by relatives or lawyers.
If the number of self-mutilations is down by almost 17%, suicide acts double the percentage of 2017. According to the report, over 700 detainees initiated hunger strike in penitentiary no. 17 from Rezina, penitentiary Nb. 11 from Balti and penitentiary Nb. 13 from Chisinau.
