Sergiu Litvinenco demands the outlawing of the Sor Party

The Ministry of Justice has prepared a referral to the Constitutional Court through which it will request the declaration of the unconstitutionality of the Sor Party. The notification will be sent to the Government and could be approved at the meeting on Wednesday, November 9. The announcement was made by the Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco on his Facebook page.

"When formulating the referral, ECtHR jurisprudence and the standards of the Venice Commission were taken into consideration. And it is even an ultimate ratio measure, because they continue to violate the law and there is no circumstance that would indicate that they would be willing to return to the path of legality," Litvinenko wrote.

The Minister of Justice mentions that there are sufficient legal circumstances to declare the Sor Party unconstitutional, because through all its activity so far, it has acted against the principles of the rule of law. Litvinenco added that the illegal financing in the case of this party has been confirmed over time by final decisions of the courts.

"Due to illegal financing, the candidates of this party were excluded from the electoral races. TRM.MD recalls that the finding of illegal financing took place constantly, almost at every election, regardless of who was in power in the country. In addition to this, it is known that legal institutions are investigating, through the lens of criminal legislation, several actions regarding the financing of this formation. Also, the findings of the US authorities, as well as the materials that have reached the public space, demonstrate that this party promotes the interests of a foreign state, which means that it acts against the sovereignty and independence of the country", writes Sergiu Litvinenco.
