More and more cases of COVID-19 in the capital

The number of people who get sick with COVID-19 is increasing, Boris Gîlca, the head of the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Health, said today during the weekly meeting of the Chisinau City Hall, reports Radio Moldova.

According to him, the most vulnerable to the Omicron strain are children.

"1,594 cases of COVID-19 were registered, with 698 more cases than the previous week. A death was  registered. The weekly incidence in Chisinau was 204 cases per 100,000 citizens. Today, we have 129 patients hospitalised at the Children's Contagious Diseases Hospital: 80 children and 49 adults, mostly the mothers of these children. At the municipal maternity no. 2, 48 pregnant women confirmed with COVID-19 are hospitalised," said Boris Gîlcă.

During the meeting, Boris Gîlca also said that between July 18-24 in Chisinau, 3 new cases of tuberculosis were registered, 2 people were admitted to the hospital, and one patient is receiving treatment at home.
