Ten major streets in Chisinau will renew their lighting systems in 2019
Ten major streets in Chisinau will renew their public lighting systems in 2019. These are Alba Iulia Street, Iasi Road, Moşilor Road, Muncesti Road, Ciuflea Street, Viaduct, Kiev, Budesti, as well as Mircea cel Batran and Moscow boulevards. Thus, it is planned to install LED lighting which is more economical. The works will be carried out from the money allocated by the Chisinau City Hall, reports TV Moldova 1.
"We have an ambitious project to modernize public lighting on the boulevards, some of Chisinau's most important boulevards such as Moscow Boulevard, Mircea cel Batran Boulevard, Alba-Iulia Boulevard, Muncesti Street, which is a problem of Chisinau city since many years ago. At least 20 years Muncesti street was not illuminated and we included it in this project, as well as the road of Moşilor," Vitalie Butucel, head of the transport department of Chisinau, said.
The inhabitants of the capital say that the center of Chisinau is indeed illuminated well, but they would like to be the same on other streets in the capital's sectors.
Local authorities hope that the modernization of the lighting system will also bring savings to the budget.
"We even estimated a saving of about 5 million lei in electricity consumption at Lumteh. That is why we can continue to invest in these ten streams during 2019, modernizing and improving lighting, and we will have those savings that will be directed to the upgrading of other streets on demand," added Vitalie Butucel.
For the renovation of the public lighting system, Chisinau City Hall has allocated about 14.2 million lei.
