New local elections will take place in 10 localities in the Republic of Moldova on May 29

New local elections are taking place in ten localities in the Republic of Moldova tomorrow, May 29th. The mayor is to be elected in eight of them. It is about Ghetlova commune, Orhei district; Horodişte commune, Rezina district; Zastânca village, Soroca district; Moara de Piatră village, Drochia district; Tătăreşti village, Straseni district; Glinjeni village, Falesti district; Zăicani village, Rascani district and Hagimus village, Causeni district. In two other localities, Lozova commune from Straseni district and Bobeica commune from Hânceşti district, elections will be organized for the composition of the local councils.

Polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Persons who, due to health reasons, are unable to go to the polling station may also request voting at the polling station with a mobile ballot box. Applications can be submitted today until 18.00, and tomorrow, on election day, applications can be made until 15.00, if a medical certificate is presented.

According to data from the State Register of Voters, more than 22,000 eligible voters are expected at the polls in all ten localities.

The Central Electoral Commission informs that 22 thousand 61 ballot papers will be printed for the election, out of which over 14 thousand will be used for the election of mayors, and another 7 thousand 881 ballot papers are destined for the local council elections.

The elections will be monitored by 59 national observers.

Electoral campaigning is strictly forbidden today and tomorrow.
