Awards Gala of the Writers' Union of Moldova
Talent, inspiration, writing at the desk enjoyed recognition at the Writers' Union Awards Gala in Moldova. 21 prizes were awarded by the Specialized Jury, the Council of the Writers' Union and the Literary Fund of Moldova, reports Moldova 1.
"The most important literary event, a moment of balance and totalization of literary creation, which was published during a year and, in this way, is a picture of the current literary moment," said Arcadie Suceveanu, president of the Writers' Union of Moldova.
In the prose section, Val Butnaru and Lucreţia Bârlădeanu were awarded prizes.
The Poetry Prize was awarded to Grigore Chiper for his book Betel Seeds.
The volume "Writers when they don't write", conceived by two good friends - the late master photographer Nicolae Răileanu and the writer Mihai Poiata, won the Prize for the book of memorials.
A book with meanings has the book "Double 57", the debut of the painter Anatol Rurac in literature.
The Excellence Award was given to the poet Irina Nechit, and the Opera Omnia Award - to Marcela Benea.
In this context, Nina Corcinschi came up with a more unusual suggestion for such moments.
"What is missing in our literary space is a column in a literary magazine, in which to talk about bad books, to separate the wheat from the weeds that a lot of waste comes to the Writers' Union," said Nina Corcinschi, president of the Jury.
At different compartments, the prizes were worth ten, seven and five thousand lei.
"The financial support was provided by the Writers' Union, but also by the Chisinau City Hall, the Culture Department, which awards three prizes, the most important in financial terms, and the Buiucani prize, which awards two prizes," said Arcadie Suceveanu, USM president.
The winning books were selected by the jury from the 160 titles published in 2020.
