Andrei Spinu: If "Gazprom" terminates the contract and no longer delivers natural gas to the Republic of Moldova, we will procure gas from the international market
"The good part is that the Iasi-Chisinau gas pipeline is operational, if the transit through Ukraine is stopped, we can bring gas on this route, or on the trans-Balkan route in the south of the country. In our case, there are no risks, there are technical solutions to supply the country with gas ", said Andrei Spînu during the show" Thursday with Liliana Barbăroşie "from the Moldova 1 TV.
The statement comes in the event that the transit through Ukraine will be stopped, after Kiev stopped the transit of Russian gas to Europe by a third. The official stated that at present, our country is in a much better situation than in the autumn, “We have many more friends who are ready to help us. We are ready to go out and buy from the market ", said Spinu.
According to the agreement signed with "Gazprom", Chisinau has undertaken to conduct a debt audit of "Moldovagaz" by May 1. Due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the audit procedure has not yet started.
On Thursday, Moldovagaz called on citizens to pay their gas bills in a timely manner so as not to admit arrears to Gazprom. At the same time, the gas supplier recommended that consumers make advance payments.
In May, the Republic of Moldova purchases 70% of the total electricity from the Cuciurgan Power Plant, and the 30% deficit is purchased from the Ukrainian company "Ukrhidroenergo". Although "Energorom" announced that the purchase price is a trade secret, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu announced the average purchase price for May, which is about 66.7 US dollars. Andrei Spinu gave assurances that the electricity tariffs for the final consumers, for the time being, remain unchanged.
