Vladimir Bolea: A strong agro-industrial sector means a secured country

A strong agro-industrial sector means a secured country and this is the primary goal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, which implements and will implement policies to support the field, supported by the Government and development partners. The statement belongs to the minister, Vladimir Bolea, on the occasion of the Agricultural Worker's Day, marked on the fourth Sunday of November.

"This year we managed to give many more subsidies, money that came to supplement the somewhat empty farmers. On November 4, AIPA had already received, without diesel, since November 15, 10,800 files totaling more than 1.750 billion lei, as well as subsidies to be paid", said the Minister of Agriculture, Vladimir Bolea.

Moldova Fruct, which has over 180 members, is one of the main promoters of fruit products, internationally.

"We would like the Giurgiulesti port to become a very developed one in order to cope with the flow of goods that we have to export by sea and of course we have to invest more in producing efficiently and qualitatively", says the director of "Moldova-Fruct, Iurie Fala.

In order to produce quality, quality seed material is also needed. For example, the Porumbeni Institute of Phytotechnology currently supplies more than 40 percent of the domestic market with corn seed material.

"Our priority task is to help farmers have less losses in such a year, to come and consult them on what they should sow. From the results we have this year in all the fields where we had the fruit was not lower than 3.5 tons", said the director of IF "Porumbeni", Anatolie Spivacenco.

"USAID has been supporting the agricultural sector in the Republic of Moldova since 1993 and will continue to support this field in this difficult period to increase the sustainability and resilience of the sector and to advance the integration of Moldovan products into the EU market and other export markets", said the head of the USAID mission, Scott Hocklander.

According to Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa, the government will continue to focus its policies on the modernization and technology of the agricultural field, including encouraging renewable resource development projects.

"We allowed the construction of solar panels and wind power plants on agricultural land without the need to change the destination, but we also introduced new programs in the entrepreneurship development organisation, to limit investments in the field of energy security and efficiency," said Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa.

The best farmers, among the good ones, received diplomas of merit. Currently, more than 150,000 people work in the agricultural sector in the country.
