European Parliament demands a speedy accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union
The European Parliament demands a speedy enlargement process of the European Union. A resolution to this effect was adopted, with 502 votes "for", 75 "against" and 61 "abstentions" on Wednesday, November 23. This was announced by MEP Siegfried Mureşan on a social network.
"In the resolution adopted today, we demand the acceleration of the accession process for the states that clearly demonstrate their democratic and pro-European course, such as the Republic of Moldova", announced Siegfried Mureşan.
According to the post, the European Parliament also requested the granting of additional technical support and access to the Pre-accession Assistance Instrument (IPA III), dedicated especially to the candidate countries for the European Union.
"Despite the difficult situation in the Republic of Moldova, caused by the energy crisis and the war in Ukraine, the authorities in Chisinau manage to implement at a very good pace the recommendations of the European Commission from June regarding the granting of candidate state status. This demonstrates a clear commitment to the European path of the country. That is precisely why we, the European Union, must offer the authorities and citizens of the Republic of Moldova even more support for the next steps in the accession process", reads the message made public by MEP Siegfried Mureşan.
We remind you that the Republic of Moldova obtained the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union on June 23.
