In Chisinau, a new party was established, led by Igor Munteanu
A new political formation appeared on the political arena in Chisinau. It is about the Coalition for Unity and Welfare (CUB), which was established during the first congress. The CUB representatives declared that it was a coalition of free people, with liberal views and who understand that the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU will be achieved with a lot of work and they want to put their shoulders to it. They also said that well-being will never be achieved, if there is not more unity in actions, in administration and in identifying solutions. Igor Munteanu, ex-ambassador and well-known director of opinion, was elected as the president of the party, reports IPN.
The president of the formation, Igor Munteanu, said that after the decision of the European Council regarding granting the Republic of Moldova the status of a candidate state for joining the EU, he thought that a common position was necessary to support this process. Discussions followed regarding solutions to speed up this integration process. However, the Republic of Moldova cannot miss this chance. Thus, the new team decided to do everything possible so that the accession process does not remain only in the hands of bureaucrats, and that the competent people have their say. "We are very different and at the same time we strongly believe that the Republic of Moldova, through its vocation, language and culture, through geography, but also through the great expectations that are born in the womb of our spirituality, deserves to have more Europe, more a lot of Romanianness and a course based on facts", Igor Munteanu pointed out.
Rodica Gramma, specialist in public health policies, mentioned that during the last 20 years she was convinced that the white coat means neutrality, to ignore politics and do your job in the hospital. But it turned out that decisions are made by incompetent people. That's why she decided that the white coat must be neutral in the relationship with the patient, but when the country must be saved, a word must be said.
According to economist Veaceslav Ioniţă, the Coalition was born at a time when European integration is no longer an aspiration, but must become a reality. "The Republic of Moldova has a unique chance to become a member of the European Union in the shortest possible time", said Ioniţă.
Ludmila Armaşu, vice-rector at the "Ion Creangă" State Pedagogical University, said that "the Republic of Moldova is going through dark times and as is known, in dark times bright people stand out". That's why she decided to join the CUB team, to assume responsibilities, but also to share her experience.
The former ambassador, Igor Klipii, says that the developments in the Republic of Moldova dictated to him that he was obliged to get involved in solving the country's problems. "The initiative launched by Mr. Munteanu has a future. I believe that all of us together can become the balance in Moldovan society and we will be a support point for many people who are looking for answers to their questions", declared Igor Klipii.
Present at the congress, the academician Valeriu Matei, signatory of the Declaration of Independence, said that the country is going through troubled and difficult times, and in the area east of the Prut an important problem is taking shape in the conditions where the intellectual and human potential of the Republic of Moldova has been reduced almost half. "Why a new political formation, if we have so many, especially on the right and centre-right spectrum, with the name "liberal" in their name? Because there is no internal cohesion in the society of the Republic of Moldova, an ability to coagulate and gather all the conscious forces, capable of supporting the country's exit from the crisis situation and unfortunately (...) Secondly, the society of the Republic of Moldova, not fully decommunized, did not leave the Soviet model of evolution and this pro-imperial nostalgia causes great damage. True democracy has not yet been established in this society", mentioned Valeriu Matei.
The former minister of internal affairs, Victor Catan, declared that the formation is entering a difficult period with a war on the borders, with a hybrid war, with energy blackmail, etc. These facts deepened the political, social, economic, etc. crises. "The Coalition for Unity and Welfare comes with an alternative political program to the existing ones and is predisposed to ensure the consolidation of national unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity", noted Victor Catan.
Among the CUB members are Eduard Bulgac, Ion Terguţă, Sveatoslav Mihalache, Mihail Bagas, Adrian Culai.
According to the organisers, institutionally, the party will join the European liberals ALDE/Renew Europe, which is the third force in the European Parliament.
