Maia Sandu meets with Angela Merkel in Berlin
Prime Minister Maia Sandu pays an official visit to Berlin today, July 16 at the invitation of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel. During the visit, the prime minister will meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the President of Bundestag Wolfgang Schäuble.
"I am very grateful to German Chancellor Angela Merkel for the invitation to pay a visit to Berlin in the first weeks of his mandate but, above all, for the constant support given by Germany to the citizens of Moldova. Germany has always been a reliable ally of the Republic of Moldova in promoting and consolidating democracy in our country and in supporting the strategic objectives of the Republic of Moldova", Maia Sandu wrote on his Facebook page.
Prime Minister Maia Sandu's visit to Berlin is of great importance, Germany's support for Germany is reiterated, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Berlin Oleg Serebrian said in an interview for Radio Free Europe, Radio Moldova reports.
"Every visit brings something new to the cooperation between countries, but the visit has a strong symbolic load, since, after many years, dialogue has been taken on a very high level with Germany and that's a very good thing," said Oleg Serebrian.
The Ambassador said that the agenda of the visit includes several high-level meetings. According to the Ambassador, Maia Sandu will have a meeting with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of Bundestag Wolfgang Schäuble, with European Affairs Minister Michael Roth, and a meeting with representatives of the Moldovan community.
