29 years without Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici

Today, October 30, marks the 29th anniversary of the passing away of "the two twin hearts", Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici, whose lives were terminated following a car accident.

Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici - "two twin hearts", who beat in the same rhythm and burned in the same sacred fire for all that is beautiful, for the same national ideal. The Aldea-Teodorovici couple campaigned for the reunification of the Republic of Moldova with Romania, opting for a return to the Romanian language and Latin script. Ion and Doina Aldea-Teodorovici are the first to sing about the Romanian language and sovereignty, about Eminescu in the 90's.

The Aldea-Teodorovici couple died in a tragic car accident on the night of October 29-30, 1992. The car in which the two performers were traveling to Chisinau crashed into a tree near Coşereni, 49 kilometers from Bucharest, Romania. The death of the two was perceived at the time as a national tragedy. Doina and Ion Aldea-Teodorovici are buried at the Central Orthodox Cemetery in Chisinau.
