At the Chisinau Botanical Garden, the magnolia bloomed, and visitors can admire a fairytale landscape
These days, the magnolia blossomed at the Chisinau Botanical Garden, and visitors can admire a fairytale landscape. In total, there are 50 species of magnolia in the Botanical Garden, of different shapes and colours, and some of them will bloom later, Moldova 1 reports.
The park administration says it wants to get the largest collection of exotic trees of its kind.
The species that bloomed is the "Magnolia Kobus". It was planted at the Botanical Garden 40 years ago and is a real attraction for visitors. Experts say that magnolia is a plant that loves the sun and heat and must be protected from the cold.
This year, the Botanical Garden has been enriched with another 15 species of magnolia brought from Italy, Ukraine, Poland and other countries.
"We still intend to stick to this commitment to have the largest collection of magnolias on the territory of the Botanical Garden. We create a passport for each magnolia that is planted in the Botanical Garden, we specify it with the exact name, we also make their characteristic," said the director of the Botanical Garden, Ion Roşca.
People who came to the park for a walk were delighted with the beauty of the flowers.
Those who want to plant magnolia in their own garden should take into account some recommendations.
"As long as they are planted in private gardens, it is advisable to plant them in areas protected from cold air currents, in more sheltered places so that it feels more protected. In total, there are 200 species of magnolia. They are widespread in Europe, North and Central America, Japan, China and Korea," said Ion Rosca.
