The problem of the bad smell in the capital, in view of the municipal authorities

The problem of foul odor in the capital is still in the spotlight of the municipal authorities. The officials from Apa-Canal Chisinau give assurances that they are taking measures to remedy the situation at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. At the same time, several meetings were held at the capital's City Hall, in search of solutions, and public debates on this subject will follow in the coming days, Moldova 1 reports .

Last week, Apa-Canal Chisinau announced that the source of pollution would be a vodka producer on Munceşti street. The General Prosecutor's Office ordered the initiation of two criminal trials to elucidate the circumstances, identify the guilty persons and recover damages.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and the Environment  announced that the Environmental Protection Inspectorate has taken water samples from several points for conducting laboratory investigations. The test results showed a substantial exceedance of the pollutant norm in the Bâc river waters. The level of ammoniacal nitrogen, which must fall within the norm of 2 mg per cubic decimeter, reached up to 78 mg.

Also, the phosphorus content was four times higher than the allowed norm, and the detergent content - almost 50 times higher than the norm stipulates.
